General impressions of Paris Fashion Week

Fashion Week began on February 28 and from the very first day began to surprise with bright presentations and star guests. Among the discoverers of the event was the Off-White brand, the show of which was dedicated to the memory of Virgil Abloh.

World fashion houses - Chanel, Balenciaga, Valentino, Dior, Balmain and others - could not miss the event.

Paris Fashion Week always has the largest concentration of well-known brands, so celebrities attend this event with much more enthusiasm than shows in New York, Milan or London. This year was no exception.

Celebrities attended presentations of their favorite designers, and some on the catwalk came out to demonstrate the outfits of fashion designers. Among the models of Paris Fashion Week were seen sisters Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Kaia Gerber, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell.

Among the guests at different screenings were Madeline Petsch, Charles Melton, Caro Daur, Emma Stone and others.

But no celebrities in the audience could pull the eyes on themselves - so bright were all the shows of Paris Fashion Week.

Off-White

On the first day, models of the Off-White brand appeared on the podium. As always, their collection was bold and provocative, in the best tradition of Virgil Abloh. The show in his honor was held under the motto of freedom and democracy in the fashion world.

Dior

The next loud and noisy show was the presentation of the fall-winter 2022-23 collection from the Christian Dior fashion house. Designers have combined the usual conservatism for Dior with modern technologies and notes of something avant-garde or futuristic.

The images coexisted typical for Dior silhouettes in the style of new looks with lace overalls and brutal braids, and classic suits with bright socks and tights.

Saint Laurent

Fashion house Saint Laurent, as well as colleagues from Dior, played with combinations, but did not become too shocking. The basis of the new collection was elegant outfits - tight-fitting dresses, sexy skirts made of satin fabric, luxurious fur coats.

A little rebelliousness of the collection was added by outfits, where the fragility of the female body was combined with the brutal wide shoulders of jackets and coats, and light fabrics contrasted with coarse skin or dense wool.

Acne Studios

The Swedish brand Acne Studios under the leadership of designer Jonni Johansson surprised the audience with a non-trivial approach to creating a collection. At first glance, it might seem that the outfits are chaotic and do not have a common idea, but this is not so.

The main message of the new autumn-winter collection is to give things a second life. All the things created for the Fashion Week in Paris were first torn and cut, and then repaired - stomped, sewn.

As a result, we saw chic patchwork dresses and denim sets in the patchwork technique, torn tights embroidered with Swarovski crystals, and down jackets, as if created from a real duvet.

It is difficult to say how much all this will take root among the trends for autumn and winter, but the idea is excellent.

Balmain

Olivier Rustin, creative director of the fashion house Balmain, this time surpassed himself and created not just laconic and stylish, but also functional clothes. He thought that in these turbulent times, women lack protection, so the basis of the collection was made up of things based on body armor and knightly armor.

Dresses, blouses, crop tops, suits - everything was saturated with notes of military mixing with modern fashion.

It is curious that the designer did not go into the typical army style, but was able to balance between the rudeness of protective clothing and sexuality.

Chloe

Chloe decided to experiment. Fashion designers played with textures, combined different fabrics and created non-standard tandems from unusual things. But something stable in the collection still remained - striped poncho capes, knitted dresses and things in the patchwork technique - no show of the brand can do without it.

Among the usual things there was a place for new products - leather dresses, pantsuits and unusual coats.

Designer Gabriela Hearst also presented new models of bags, including now popular hobo and roomy shoppers.

Isabel Marant

We advise everyone who was waiting for the return of boots paired with short dresses to take a closer look at the outfits of Isabel Marant models. The fall-winter collection included several such images – high boots with a free shank paired with mini-length dresses looked bold and sexy, referring thoughts to the fashion of the 00s.

There are many options for dresses with which you can wear boots: there is a mohair sweater dress, a tight-fitting mini in a flower, and a cashmere dress with open shoulders.

Nina Ricci

A surprise for fashion experts was the Nina Ricci collection. The brand was famous for its love of restrained, calm colors, which this year were replaced by bright and playful ones. Now, instead of pastel heavenly, we see a rich blue, and the delicate pink has been replaced by candy, almost neon.

With such a color palette, you could not worry about the silhouettes - even the classics would play differently, but the company's fashion designers are not those who go the easy way. In addition to the bright range, they sewed crop tops from mohair, panama from transparent plastic and huge sizes of rounded down jackets and coats.

Nina Ricci has started a new era – the era of bright solutions, unusual silhouettes and bold fashion.

Hermes

Unexpectedly practical was the collection from Hermes. To create runway outfits, designers combined urban design, sports style and simple, understandable silhouettes.

Balenciaga

Fashion house Balenciaga can be applauded simply for the organization of the presentation, and the models of the brand - for perseverance and endurance. To show the new collection, the organizers recreated the conditions of a blizzard with the wind and snow flying into the faces of the models.

Valentino

Against the background of the Balenciaga show, Valentino's presentation seemed especially bright. For the collection, the fashion house chose two colors - rich pink and classic black. For the demonstration, the designers assembled total looks within the same color, and also equipped a bright pink podium.

Givenchy

Givenchy and designer Matthew Williams decided to stay in the dark color palette, only occasionally diluting it with bright details or outfits of saturated colors.

Stylistically, the collection resembled a cross between street style, rock and high fashion. Boots became a frequent guest of the images - it seems that we will see them in the lists of trends in the coming autumn, as well as things with the effect of weariness - grunge remains relevant.

Louis Vuitton

Already in the last days of The Fashion Week in Paris, the honor to demonstrate its collection fell to the fashion house Louis Vuitton. This time, the designers presented a youth line, where comfort and freedom of movement came to the fore.

In the images, you can see subtle hints of preppies, an obvious craving for oversize and notes of eclecticism. The looks were complemented by stylish Louis Vuitton bags in different configurations – bags, chests and classic styles.

Chanel

Finally, the organizers of the fashion week stocked the Chanel show - the fashion house showed its collection on the final day, March 8.

Oddly enough, the main material of the autumn-winter collection was tweed - this is one of the features of the company. But this time Chanel went beyond jackets and showed other options for its use - in accessories and accessories, in vests, skirts and elongated jackets.

Despite all the attempts of designers to diversify the show, the collection remained within the conservative limits of Chanel - calm and restrained. And that's a good thing – because something in the fashion world has to be stable.
