General impressions of NYFW

New York Fashion Week for the Fall-Winter 2022-23 season was the first and launched a series of shows in other fashion capitals – Paris, London and Milan. Despite the abundance of designers and brands, the NYFW predicted a rather modest one - famous American brands, including Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs, did not appear on the podium this year.

Fortunately, in addition to these fashion designers, other well-known brands were among the participants - their shows more than compensated for the lack of fashion legislators.

Not without star guests - among the visitors was noticed May Musk, who recently began to often attend social events, as well as Maud Apatow - the star of the series Euphoria.

And, of course, the streets of New York were filled with fashionistas, who pleased with their stylish outfits, despite the capricious weather. Below see photos of the best street style images from New York Fashion Week, and then get acquainted with the brightest NYFW shows.

Discreet Proenza Schouler

The Fall-Winter 2022-23 Proenza Schouler collection was one of the first at the NYFW show. This time, the designers of the brand chose rather restrained shades for the models - black, olive, beige, white.

It was decided to compensate for the lack of flowers with an unusual cut - there was a place for tops with a basque, turtlenecks with hoods and jackets with architectural shoulders.

Only a few outfits could boast of bright accents - somewhere a monochrome bow was diluted with red boots, somewhere bright and saturated dresses replaced restrained dresses.

50 shades of Christian Siriano blue

American fashion designer Christian Siriano, like his colleagues from Proenza Schouler, decided not to scare the audience with too bright colors. The basis of his new collection for autumn-winter 2022-23 was blue in its different shades, as well as basic black.

Together with rather unusual silhouettes, the designer played with fabrics - there was a place for denim, velvet, satin and even patent leather.

The brand invited different models and, importantly, plus size girls walked on the catwalk. With this, the company reminded that everyone can wear their things, regardless of the type of figure.

An unexpected model also took part in the show - a dog Tika the Iggy, dressed in a patent leather suit. The four-legged star has more than a million followers on Instagram who follow her fashion adventures.

Practical Coach Collection

The American company Coach for the autumn-winter 2022-23 season has prepared very contrasting images. To add atmospherics to the show, the designers equipped the podium with decorations in the form of houses of a big city.

The basis of the collection was made up of practical things - these are ideal for a noisy metropolis.

The autumn-winter line includes rough sheepskin coats, oversize T-shirts, corduroy pants, cute dresses and leather raincoats in the spirit of the 00s.

In general, the collection made a good impression on the public, although the perception was different. Someone found something cinematic in things, and some tracked expressive notes retro.

The star guest of the show was the American rap singer Megan Thee Stallion.

Sailors and mermaids Altuzarra

The fabulous Altuzarra collection, clearly referring to marine motifs, has become one of the brightest for the entire New York Fashion Week. It is possible that this was facilitated by Gigi Hadid, who became the closing model of the show.

But even if you do not take the celebrity into account, the presentation really had something to look at. We saw a sea of knitted knitwear, wool trousers, jumpers with a ragged edge, products strewn with sequins.

Judging by the techniques of decorating things Altuzarra, the list of trends in the autumn-winter 2022-23 season will change slightly - knitted things will remain in fashion, sparkling sequins will not go anywhere, outfits with the effect of wear will be relevant.

Frank PatBo

The designers of PatBo decided that the upcoming winter needs to shine. Therefore, almost all things from the autumn-winter collection were manually embroidered with beads and stones.

In general, the line turned out to be very frank - a lot of bodysuits, things with unexpected cuts and extreme mini.

Feminine Jason Wu

Designers Jason Wu showed incredibly feminine, soft outfits created from sketches of 1950. The basis of the collection was dresses and skirts. There were long variants and mini models.

The palette is diverse - there is bright fuchsia, and stylish mustard and noble green.

There was also a place for black and white classics, which in the location decorated with dry branches and bright colors looked incredibly colorful.

Provocative LaQuan Smith

The American brand LaQuan Smith literally adopted the trend of cuttings in unexpected places, so it supplemented almost all products with them.

In those few things where there were no incisions, their absence was compensated by translucent tissues.

The basis of the color palette was black, generously diluted with red, blue, green and brown. A couple of models were dressed in lavender-colored outfits.

The most discussed person of the show was Julia Fox - this was her first appearance on the podium.

Unusually linear Carolina Herrera

For the new Carolina Herrera collection, creative director Wes Gordon was inspired by the image of the brand's founder, full of passion, courage and fire. Thanks to this, instead of the usually airy dresses with a streamlined silhouette, the ready to wear FW 2022-23 collection includes linear, clear silhouettes.

It is important that this did not prevent the outfits from being feminine and romantic.

Colors for dresses were chosen noble, but bold - berry, blue, fiery orange, yellow.

I was also pleased with the variety of fabrics, where there was a place for brocade, cotton and taffeta, which were generously decorated with floral arrangements, sequins, lurex and sequins.

Other NYFW shows

Of course, there were other designers at New York Fashion Week with no less bright, bold and original collections.

On the penultimate day, the fall-winter collection was shown by Gabriela Hearst designers. The basis of the color palette was yellow, coral and black, and almost all things turned out to be cozy in winter.

A little eclecticism in Fashion Week brought the brand Greedilous with its diffuse images.

Anna Sui was distinguished by a similar mixture of styles - there is a colorblock, and notes of ethnic style, and even hints of avant-garde.

Everyone who loves retro was delighted with the show of Ulla Johnson - calm, but original outfits with a hint of the last century.
