Normcore, from the English normcore - is formed from a combination of the words normal - normal and core - core.
For the first time, the term Normcore began to be used in 2009, but entered permanent circulation only in 2014, when New York Magazine published an article about unassuming fashion. In the publication, the author spoke about the growing trend among New Yorkers - they began to stand out for not seeking to stand out.
Even then, normcore became a breath of fresh air for those who are tired of the transience of fashion trends, bright colors and the endless desire of others to declare their individuality.
It was then that it became clear that in order to stand out, it is not necessary to wear a sequined dress or coat of fuchsia color. In a crowd, each participant of which is trying to attract attention to himself with outrageous clothes, the one who dresses simply stands out the most.

Normcore is built on ordinary clothes – windbreakers, sneakers, turtlenecks, battered T-shirts, jeans without a brand, leggings – all this will be an excellent basis for a wardrobe. Now there is no difference in what to go outside. Normcore can be called a diffuse style, which absorbed the best of comfortable sport style, original grunge, restrained minimalism and a universal basic wardrobe. 
For normcore, there is nothing outdated - clothes are thrown away only when they cease to perform their function - to cover the body. This makes the style and its fans supporters of conscious consumption. 
To finally understand what a normcore is – look at the looks of Phoebe Fileau – a British fashion designer. She chooses simplicity and mediocrity, but remains a stylish woman. 
I must say that the normcore in the ranks of modern styles was not welcomed by everyone. The magazine GQ, for example, criticized everyone who prefers to stand out without standing out and called the direction a pathetic attempt to justify their own laziness.

It is curious that it is impossible to call people dressed in the style of normcore unfashionable or devoid of a sense of taste. They consciously choose unremarkable items of clothing and this is how they stand out among others. 
This is the same peculiar style as, say, boho, grunge or eclecticism, where at first glance chaotic things turn into sophisticated and thoughtful outfits.

From shoes, give preference to simple sneakers - not ultra-modern models of strange shapes or with bright prints, but those that were popular in the last century. Simple old Adidas sneakers, classic converses or even shoes from the no name brand will do.

Of course, the basic things of the normcore style can be diluted with trousers, shirts, dresses - this will make your "style without style" more refined. But if you have not yet decided whether this direction is suitable for you, we advise you to start small - the basic list above. 
It is unlikely that celebrities deliberately sought to create ordinary looks - they rather simply did not expect that they would be photographed. But that won't stop us from looking at celebrity normcore to think about incorporating style into our own wardrobe.
