Style
The New Look style is the merit of Christian Dior, then already an influential designer, which he proposed in 1947. I must say that he did not invent anything new, but rather returned the old, and all the hype around the new appearance of women rose only against the background of contrasts.
In wartime, women around the world were forced to abandon dresses, skirts and heels and choose more comfortable things. The reason for this is the need to do not at all ladies' things and work on an equal footing with men. But in 1947, when the war was left behind, there was a chance to regain his former femininity – this is what Dior did. He revived fitted silhouettes, corsets, adjoining cut and emphasizing the dignity of bodices, flying skirts.
In general, women could again afford to become weak and elegant. 
Surprisingly, society was not ready for such a new fashion – wartime was firmly ingrained in the heads of housewives and all these chic images proposed by Dior seemed to be a terrible waste. Other "sharks" of the fashion world also did not approve of the new look - Coco Chanel, for example, after returning to Paris in 1953, openly ignored the style set by Christian and continued to produce restrained, simple dresses.
Young people also did not accept the innovation and chose street style, where it was not necessary to suffer in uncomfortable shoes. But what is surprising is not even the opposition of the public, but the success that awaited each new show of Dior in the style of New Look. Paradoxically, everyone denied, criticized, but each time they were amazed at the work of the fashion designer.

New Look has existed for more than 70 years and, curiously, does not tolerate much change, remaining as feminine and elegant as Christian Dior presented it in 1947. The fashion house Dior itself continues to produce clothes in the style of new looks, both for the catwalk and for streaming sale. 
New Look is conservative and demanding. Only a strict office style can compete with it, where every extra centimeter of the neckline can become fatal.

Other brands and fashion houses from time to time turn to the principles of new look, highlighting other styles in clothing. For example, in 2010, Louis Vuitton created a whole collection in the style of new look with lush skirts below the knee. 
And in 2015, DKNY showed a dress with cutouts on the sides and a flying bottom.
