History of the Military

Until the second half of the 20th century, there was simply no such thing as the "military style", although at all times people borrowed clothes from the wardrobe of the military and integrated it into everyday life. The first prerequisites for the development of this stylistic direction are associated with the First and Second World Wars, after the end of which huge remnants of military clothing were formed.

Since the industries needed time to restore the factories, and people simply did not have money, it was necessary to master the military uniform. Clothes were sewn up, making men's, women's and children's models out of it. In the 60-70s, military clothing received a response among young people - rock musicians tried on elements of the army wardrobe, some subcultures - for example, hippies, as well as Protestants, refuting the rules of the policy then in force. But all these are only prerequisites.

The style became a real fashion trend only in the 80's, when eminent designers and fashion houses began to produce beautiful clothes in the army theme, but one that you want to wear. At one time, the collections were released by Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Celine.

Features of military style

• calm color scheme. Military is characterized by khaki, blue, gray, olive, black, dark red and other muted colors. No pastel, neon or other bright accents are provided for by the classic military;

• straight cut. Things have a simple, even primitive cut, but this adds zest and uniqueness to the wardrobe - a simple silhouette today surprises much more than a complex cut;

• dense fabrics. Often used denim, dense cotton, wool, leather, tweed. Tent fabric can be used for outerwear - it does not allow air and water to pass through;
• specific finish. For the military direction in clothing is characterized by imitation of epaulettes, zippers, rivets and buttons, belts with massive buckles. Patches and emblems are also used;

• Unisex. Designers often produce unisex models. This applies to trousers and jackets, which are equally used in the wardrobe of men and women.

Substyles of military style

Youth

The youth military or casual military welcomes deliberate negligence. This is expressed in a slightly loosened belt, tucked up trousers or a jacket thrown over the shoulders. Things used for a youth wardrobe are comfortable, unpretentious in care.

Formalistic

Formalistic military or "camouflage style" implies the use of camouflage color in the most familiar things - from swimsuits to bags. This substyle deviates from the classical principles - it allows the use of calm tones, fitted silhouettes and gives out a military spirit only thanks to the color.

High-military

High fashion military - "high" substyle, which in this case means the compliance of images with the rules of high fashion - expensive fabrics, limited batches, high-quality accessories. High-military models rarely make it to stores – they can usually be seen at fashion shows. If you want to dress in this style - you will have to sew clothes to order or buy a runway model.

Basic wardrobe in military style

Making a basic wardrobe in the style of military - decide whether you want to create a classic strict set of clothes or make it less army, leaving only the shades inherent in the style. The classic military-style wardrobe includes:

• trousers. Here start from the features of the figure and the case. It is better to choose a pair of trousers - for official exits and for everyday wear. Models are almost any - classic with arrows, with patch pockets, galife, joggers. The coloring is monochromatic within the military palette, or camouflage. Only klesh is not suitable - it is too feminine and sophisticated for a strict army wardrobe;

• dresses of medium length - just below or above the knee, straight cut. Popular shirt dresses with patch pockets, epaulettes, buttons;

• shirt - straight, with long sleeves and a strict collar, complemented by small shiny buttons;

• basic T-shirts – white, black, gray, olive, khaki;

• outerwear depending on the season - coat, bomber, trench coat. For a feminine look, you can choose a shortened jacket.

You can gradually supplement the wardrobe with overalls, sweaters, vests, sweatshirts.

Shoes & Accessories

Shoes for the wardrobe are selected very different - from simple sneakers to boats on a stiletto. For a basic set of clothes, be sure to purchase:

• rough boots or ankle boots. They can be equally successfully combined with a dress, trousers, skirt;
• sneakers of white or black color;
• for more feminine looks – khaki sandals.

If desired, you can take boats, but they are not combined with a strict military image as often as more brutal shoes. Of the bags, a postman, a backpack or other voluminous, without clear edges model is best suited. For formal and secular images, you can take a small black belt bag. Accessories in the military style are rough belts, pendants-tags, watches on a leather strap, a stylish kepi and caps imitating the headdress of the military, brooches in the form of awards.

Men's wardrobe in military style

There are no critical differences in the women's and men's army wardrobe - all the same simple silhouettes, interesting fittings, calm colors. For a basic men's wardrobe, choose:

• Jacket. A parka, pilot jacket, M 65 is a model jacket for field work of the US military;

• trousers – cargo, chinos, with or without patch pockets;

• T-shirts of basic colors - white and black, as well as more typical for military shades - olive, gray, black, swamp;

• military-style shirt - plain, with long or short sleeves and breast pockets;

• pullover or sweatshirt.

As shoes - the already mentioned thighs, boots, sneakers. It is not necessary to take everything at once - 1-2 models are enough to combine them for different images. Bags - with a hint of military themes and an abundance of pockets, as well as postmen and backpacks.
