History of the Gypsy Style
The Gypsy style is based on gypsy outfits, which have a long history. Since the Gypsies are a nomadic people, in their costumes they have absorbed elements of the culture of dozens of peoples. Clothes for Gypsies are always free and practical – they reflect the spirit of nomadic people who do not sit in one place and constantly travel.
Almost always, the gypsy outfit was a bright color, as well as complemented by an abundance of accessories. Literally everything was decorated – from the head to the ankles.
There are no specific time ranges for the formation of style - it was impossible to follow the gypsies, but the path of the gypsy, as a trend in clothing for everyone, can be determined. The first splash dates back to 1976, the year Yves Saint Laurent released a collection of clothes inspired by Carmen.
Later, other fashion houses and designers decided to try themselves in a free and extraordinary direction - Luisa Beccaria, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, Valentino. Today, the gypsy style of clothing is an opportunity to prove yourself, stand out in the crowd and demonstrate complete freedom. Just like the romantic Gypsy peoples.
Style features
- Dresses and skirts. The style of gypsy for women is a long skirt or dress. The cut is only loose, flying - no tight-fitting clothes. Modern designers have become bolder and now in the style of a gypsy there are short skirts, but classics are skirts and floor-length dresses. Initially, for women, the "bottom" could only be a skirt or dress, but modernity allows you to integrate into a woman's gypsy wardrobe and trousers;

- Multi-layered. For all the lightness of the images, layering is welcome. For example, you can wear a vest on the top of the dress;

- An abundance of décor and accessories. Gypsy is inconceivable without fringe, bright prints, rings, bracelets and other "hanging";

- Freedom of combinations. One of the most pleasant characteristics of style is complete freedom of action. Gypsy allows any combination of even incompatible things, the use of accessories of different directions, combinations with other styles.
Gypsy, Boho and Ethno – What's the Difference
Gypsy and boho are similar styles. They are often confused, since the difference between the directions is not obvious. However, it is impossible to call gypsi and boho identical, because:
- The boho style is romantic, but the gypsy can be safely attributed to the ethnic group. A dress in a flower is a boho, and a variegated skirt with large flowers up to the heels is a gypsi;
- Boho welcomes or at least does not deny sexuality. Girls often create attractive feminine images – they expose the stomach, for example. The Gypsy style is restrained, as it is originally part of the traditional, albeit not stable costume. Gypsy does not accept heels, although modern fashionistas often compromise this rule, but for boho shoes on a wedge or sandals with heels are quite logical shoes.
As for the ethnic style - everything is also not unambiguous. The fact is that the ethnic style is a direction in clothing with elements of specific costumes and the gypsy is a crazy combination of dozens of different costumes of different peoples at once, but you can not call it national. The ethnic style has specific features, while for the Gypsy everything is much simpler - combine the incompatible and most importantly do it brightly.
It is important to say that the current Gypsy style is adjusted for current trends. As tranquility is gradually gaining popularity, fashion designers began to increasingly produce outfits in the spirit of gypsy peoples, but a calm palette - white, beige, pastel. Will it be a gypsy - of course, but such clothes will never become a classic of the gypsy wardrobe.

Basic gypsy-style wardrobe
Before picking a trendy bow – tips on the gypsy style:
- It is not necessary to apply all the elements in one image at once. Modern gypsy style allows the combination of gypsy clothes with ordinary, even minimalistic. For example, you can take plain trousers of a loose or straight cut and combine them with a colorful light blouse;
- Try not to combine gypsy with boho - there is a risk of overdoing it, even despite the democratic style in relation to combinations. It is in the case of boho that there is a high probability of becoming a "Christmas tree", and not a stylish girl;
- Consider the circumstances. We all want to express ourselves, but there are situations when a bright and original Gypsy style will not be appropriate. It is best to dress in the style of a gypsy on the beach, a walk with friends, a trip to nature, and for working outfits it is worth choosing another direction.
So, to become a real Carmelita, in the wardrobe you need:
- A long colorful dress. Colors are up to you. Now equally fashionable will be bright shades and calm - pastel, for example. Styles are also variable - completely in the floor or open on the front side;

- Skirt. As already mentioned - the classics imply a long skirt, but modern gipsy girls can afford a short skirt;

- Blouse or short top. It is desirable to have in the wardrobe a calm monochromatic top and a bright, colorful one. This will help to choose a top depending on the bottom - with trousers a bright option, with a colorful skirt - calm;
Also in the wardrobe are useful classic jeans - they give a beautiful combination with a bright blouse, as well as various calm T-shirts and bodysuits - they can dilute a bright gypsy skirt.
Shoes are only flat-soled, as the gypsy does not allow heels. Since the Gypsies had always been engaged in horse breeding and trade, they needed comfortable shoes in which they could go either in the mountains or in the forests. The priority of sandals is that they fit into the image better than any other shoe or half-boot.
Pay special attention to accessories. For a gypsy outfit, a great addition will be a chain on the leg, rings, pendants and bracelets. Bracelets and rings can be worn several - accessories for gypsies are an important component.
Gypsy for Men
Modern men rarely dress in the style of a gypsy - an extravagant image does not fit into working days.
For those who intend at least for a while to become a gypsy baron in the wardrobe, it is important to have:
- Silk shirt in a bright shade with a print. The print is floral, but a monochromatic model is also allowed;

- Bright vest - it will complement the image with a monochromatic shirt, and the most daring representatives of the stronger sex can put it on a naked body;

- Pants. Modern gypsy style can be traced if you wear torn and worn jeans. Monochromatic dark or colored trousers are also welcome, as well as models made of silk and its analogues;
As in the case of a women's wardrobe, men's can be collected from different stylistic directions - take classic jeans and complement them with a bright shirt or add a stylish vest to the everyday image.
