Color block is a relatively new direction in clothing, which appeared in the 1960s. It was launched by the famous fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, who used the technique of the artist Peter Modrian in his new collection. The artist became one of the founders of the direction of "abstract painting" and in his works used the division of the canvas into blocks painted in different colors - blue, red and yellow. Yves Saint Laurent transferred Peter's creations to fabric, releasing a collection of 6 laconic dresses of straight cut, painted in large colored blocks. The models presented by the designer were called the "Mondrian" dress.
After the appearance of dresses on the cover of French Vogue, they gained wide popularity and immediately became the basis for the creations of other fashion designers. Currently, color blocking is gaining popularity again and is reflected in the collections or single things of many brands and fashion houses - the most famous of them we have collected below.

This stylistic direction is chosen for themselves, as a rule, by brave people with often changing moods and dependent on emotions. There are no age restrictions - since the basis is the classic silhouettes, they are appropriate for women and men of any age.

The combination of colors in the image, especially in the first and second cases, is based on the color wheel. A good solution would be a combination of:
Each of the combination options give a stylish and elegant image in its own way, but for elegant bows you will need a certain skill. We suggest starting to stuff your hand right now - write in the comments, what things with a photo are appropriate to combine in one outfit?
You can assemble an image in the style of a color block in almost any store - from a mass market to a luxury, because almost any brand offers laconic bright things of a simple cut, which in combination will give an elegant, stylish colored look.
But here we show brands that adhere to the classic color block introduced by Yves Saint Laurent – color inserts within one thing.
In the spring-summer and fall-winter collections, the Issey Miyake brand presented several dresses. It is difficult to say how much this is a classic color block - the accents here are not clear geometric shapes, but we could not pass by these original models.

The set of clothes for the basic wardrobe depends on which of the strategies you have chosen to form images. Consider examples for each of the options, and you, by analogy, will be able to assemble your own set of clothes.
The task is to choose things of the same shade, so that when combined, a monochrome bow is obtained. Here it must be said that it is unlikely that it will be possible to make the whole wardrobe in this style, but if you collect several monochrome bows, selecting colors for each according to the color wheel, later they can be mixed.
For example: collect green and red images, and if desired, wear a green top and red bottom, or green clothes and red shoes.
Specific things are selected depending on the style of the image:
Color block on things is one of the simplest. First of all, because you can find bright simple clothes in any store. For the combination, you can use 2 contrasting colors or, choose 3 at the corners of the triangle inside the color wheel. For example, this is how color blocking in a business style may look like: And this can be everyday:
Ready-made things with an already existing color block are better combined with calmer clothes so as not to look like a parrot.
Examples of combinations:
All the described rules are far from mandatory for accurate execution - if you have a sense of taste, you can combine things outside the color wheel, with different textures and even prints. And for inspiration - 10 stylish images for different occasions.
