Gaby Agien was born in Egypt, into a family of aristocrats. Not wanting to live life in her birthplace, Gaby left for Paris in 1945. At that time, French women dressed in a masculine style, and even haircuts were made short. Until 1947, nothing interesting happened in the life of the girl, but that year became fateful for her.
In 1947 Christian Dior decided to return lightness and beauty to women and replace depersonalizing costumes with light and romantic clothes. Quickly catching the wave, Gabi began to sew clothes and sell them in local boutiques - the owner of delicate outfits was christian Dior, who appreciated the lightness and grace. After the connection with Dior, Gaby's affairs began to go uphill - she opened her own atelier and hired an assistant. The aristocrat did not want to call the enterprise by her name - she saw it as some kind of mystical and charlatan. It was decided to name the company Chloe' - in honor of the girl's friend.
Despite the fashion rules of those times, Agien did not seek to create prim things like her colleagues. The girl sewed light outfits from flying fabrics, in which women felt gentle and elegant. It was Gaby who became the first to create ready-made luxury clothes - the direction was called luxury prêt-a porter.
The essence of luxury ready-to-wear was that exclusive luxury sketches were transferred to garment factories, which produced clothes for open sale in boutiques. It was thanks to the fashion house Chloe' that other companies also began to release their creations for mass sale.
In 1983, the fashion house was bought out by Richemont, which still owns it. The decision was not the most successful - the brand was waiting for a rapid fall, which, due to the economic crisis, many fashion designers felt at that time.
Sad stability awaited the company until 1997. Even the famous German designer Karl Lagerfeld, who worked for some time in the fashion house Chloe', could not change the situation. In 1997, the place of the chief designer was taken by Stella McCartney, who worked until 2002. For 5 years of work, she was able to return popularity to the brand, but slightly moved away from the origins. Phoebe Filo was able to revive the original lightness, simplicity, grace, but she quickly left the post of designer. She was followed by the extravagant Paulo Andersen, whose views were completely incompatible with the original philosophy of the fashion house.
Starting from 2021, the post of creative director is occupied by Gabriela Hearst, who shares the views laid down in the basis of the fashion house and has already managed to demonstrate this in her debut collection.
At the moment, the fashion house Chloe offers two completely different in style lines:
Both lines include:
Chloe's basic line is characterized by restrained but elegant models of clothing and footwear. In different collections there are notes:
