When it comes to trendsetters, Dior, Chanel or Versace immediately come to mind, but Balmain is rarely remembered. And in vain, because this fashion house has an interesting, full of obstacles story that proves its right to exist.
Pierre Balmain opened his first store in 1945 - in the first year after the end of a protracted, difficult war. Then the designer risked failure, because a crisis, the pain of losses and general decline settled around.
As a result, the decision turned out to be correct – people missed beautiful clothes, freedom and tranquility to such an extent that they quickly accepted Pierre's views and his clothes. Until the 50s, the development was systematic, without sharp jumps, but in the period from 1950 to 1960, the fashion house was waiting for a real golden period. The heyday of Pierre and his works happened primarily because he began to act as a creator of outfits for films. In his "hands" were Vivien Leigh, Gertrude Stein, Marlene Dietrich, Bridget Bordeaux.
Everything was not going badly, but in the 80s there was a decline. This happened because the new owner, Erich Freyer, sold licenses to use the Balmain name to literally anyone who could afford it. Under the trademark began to produce goods of different categories, which did not like the fans of the brand.
After 9 years, the company was sold again, although the fashion house no longer had loyal consumers. Creative directors changed, new clothes were produced, but it no longer caused the former awe among buyers.
This continued until 2006 - then the post of chief designer was taken by Christophe Decarnin. He revived the fashion house, gave new life to the main ideas of Pierre Balmain and again regained authority in the fashion world. Now Balman is clothes for beautiful, confident women.

Fashion house Balmain continues to work on the range constantly. Now under the name of the brand is produced:
The DNA of the Balmain brand:
Of course, sometimes in the collections there are atypical things, but if you look at the assortment in general - almost every item of clothing has one or more characteristic features inherent in a fashion house.
Balmain clothing is primarily dresses. You are unlikely to find a classic sheath dress here - even a straight, understandable cut is almost always accompanied by expressive shoulders, unusual trim or asymmetry.

A similar situation develops with suits - trousers or skirts. The basis is based on traditional silhouettes, but in the end, the models turn out to be extravagant, recognizable and even slightly avant-garde.

It turns out that for a strict business style in Balmain, it will not be easy to assemble a wardrobe. If the dress code at work is not so categorical, then you can safely choose Balmain jackets and suits.

Modern bow is not conceivable without denim - it is also represented in the assortment of the fashion house. As original, stylish and bold as other clothes.

On the overalls made of denim you can trace one of the features of the fashion house - the love of a combination of textures. There is a strict, rough denim, and soft inserts.

Often Balmain designers rely on poignant fashion and trends – their collections are full of current clothing that will be fashionable here and now. At the same time, there is a certain base - but not in the classical sense of the basic wardrobe, but namely in the spirit of a fashion house.

With shoes, the situation is about the same - along with basic white sneakers, there are quite entertaining sneakers with a knitted shin up to the hips and moccasins on the sole protruding at the edges .

Men's wardrobe in the style of Balmain will turn out to be no less bright and bold than women's, but I must say that men's clothing at the fashion house is a little more restrained.

The two main areas that distinguish the world of fashion are bags and watches. The watch is produced by the Swatch Group - in 1987 it bought the exclusive rights to the trademark. That is, in fact, watches under the Balmain TM are produced not by a fashion house at all, but by a third-party company.
But bags are a major direction developed by Balmain. There are several collections, the last of which "1945 BAGS" refers to the founder's first steps and reflects his love of labyrinths – a print of geometric, curving lines.

In addition to printed models, there are also monochromatic ones - black, pink, brown, as well as several canvas bags.

Balmain boasts a large subsidiary direction - a hairstyle "haute couture". This direction was allocated even in a separate official website - the assortment would hardly be able to fit together with clothes. The fashion house is perhaps the only one that is so tightly engaged in something other than clothes and shoes. Hair products are:

Famous faces in Balmain clothes are not uncommon - it has always been so, but the stars began to dress especially often in a fashion house after the arrival of Olivier Rousting. From time to time, you can see Zendai, Milena Smith, Rian, Kylie Jenner and other celebrities in the company's clothes.
